View On Fishing
There is so much to enjoy about fishing: pure relaxation as the boat rocks against the waves, competition against nature’s elements and experiencing the rush of a big bass on the end of my line. It is breathtaking to see the river and its banks in places that no one can go except by boat. Many times, on lakes that I’ve never fished, I seek out remote places that look like Alabama’s hot fishing spots. I have fished in all types of weather, from a hurricane force wind on the Santee Cooper to 5 degrees on Henry Neely. I make use of equipment that allows me to fish in these conditions. I have sealskin socks to keep my feet dry and a helmet for protection from the beating rain while traveling the river. I’m a believer in Frog Togs and 100% wool and silk in the winter. I’ve learned that every bass is a big bass. Sometimes its that 12 inch fish that makes all the difference in making the cut. My philosophy is get your limit and then fish for the lunker.

All of my reels are top of the line Abu Garcia baitcasters. When I graduated from High School, my father gave me my first matching rod and reel. From that day forward, I was hooked on the feel of professional equipment as an extension of myself. I have a range of rods, from G Loomis to Bass Pro and Colonon. I can fish spinnerbait, crankbait and a jig. My strongest technique is the use of Zoom plastic worms and lizards. I have a secret way of using weights. The presentation seems to attract the fish. I believe in a good shot of scent to help produce a strike.
