I returned to work in September of 2005 to help my father promote his book and studio. The University of Alabama Press just released a book on my fathers black and white photography, Picturetaker: Photographs by Ken Elkins. The book is a powerful collection of the people and landscapes in Alabama. The book is getting excellent reviews.and is on the Best Sellers List for Alabama. My work allows me the comfort of being able to take off and fish. I’m responsible for scheduling book promotions. We are currently focusing on promotions in Alabama. We expect to take promotions to the southeast region in 2006. We are already realizing those dreams by recognition in an upcoming issue of a national magazine, Shutterbug.

Mt. Cheaha Animal Concern Center
I spent 15 years or more as an artist, and the last 9 of those years working for a Fortune 500 company, Russell Corporation. I resigned from Lead Artist of the NBA artwork division in 2000. I didn’t know what I wanted to do at the time, just had an idea that I wanted to use my talents to help others. In 2001, I founded MCACC, a 501 (C) 3 non-profit organization. Mt. Cheaha is not an animal rights organization. The purpose of our organization is to provide a place of animal promotion and rehabilitation for the diverse animal kingdom located at the base of the Cheaha Wilderness region. When MCACC locates the ideal spot for our facility, we will be humane society, a wildlife rehab, and an interactive farm for challenged and at-risk children. MCACC currently has the support of 3 Mayors from 3 counties. Our humane society is unique because we have 7 programs in place for the adoption of dogs. The CEO of the Wildlife Center has been a rehabber for Oak Mountain Wildlife Rehab Center in Birmingham and we will place our focus on waterfowl. The CEO of our farm is the Program Director of East Alabama Cerebral Palsy. We are geared for success. It is only a matter of time until I see this dream come true.

Expressions Photography: Eddie Motes
Eddie and I met twenty something years ago. My daughter was in diapers. I spent 2 years studying photography under the direction of my father, Eddie spent much longer. Soon after my father retired from the Star, Eddie's photography took on the direction of studio work. His work with animal portraits is remarkable and by far my favorite. His level of expertise is rarely found among studio's. Eddie does all types of work from Senior Portraits to Weddings. He took the photo of Miss ZuZu and me. You can tell by the expression on Zuzu's face that she is a live wire. You can reach
Eddie via email at emphotos@aol.com or call his cell 256-452-2003.

I have the support and encouragement from my husband and my children. My ideal list of sponsors will only include the products, companies, or organizations that I have first hand knowledge of and are in alignment with my lifestyle. I will be among a focus group of at least 200 other women anglers, most of which are mothers and wives. I tell myself, “You are making the top 6 field. When I do so, the final day weigh-in will be televised on ESPN.

This is my startegy. I want the Children’s Miracle Network and Genetech as my sponsors. In consideration for a monitary sponsorship, I will work to promote both the hospital and the research group through public appearances at the Children’s Hospital located nearest to the WBT schedule. I will return 10 percent of monitary sponsorship and winnings from my tour to furnish children in the hospital with gifts. I like the theme... Fish For Life. An added benefit to my promotion wll be access to other anglers that may be in need of a tax deductible donation. I am a very passionate person and have no problem spreading my personal experience with both CMN and Genentech.

The list of lakes and dates I will tour with the WBT are:

• April 20-22 — Neeley Henry Lake, Gadsden, AL:
• May 18-20 — Lewisville Lake, Dallas, Texas: July 27-29

• Aug. 24-26 — Lake Norman, Huntersville, NC
• Lake Dardanelle, Russellville, AR - TBA
• Black Shoals Lake, Branson MO - TBA

With Gracious Thanks, Karen
